Pa. Officials Admit Fracking Impact Fee Miscalculation

Law360, Philadelphia (October 26, 2012, 4:19 PM ET) -- Pennsylvania officials announced Friday that they had miscalculated impact fees set to be issued to some of the state’s municipalities as part of natural gas drilling activities in the state’s Marcellus Shale.

Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission spokeswoman Jennifer Kocher said the error stems from improper application of a formula that determines the fees based on how many wells are within five miles of a municipality’s border.
