Lawmakers Float Bill To End Oil, Gas, Coal Tax Breaks

Law360, New York (November 22, 2013, 1:30 PM ET) -- A new bill introduced on Thursday would eliminate tax subsidies for the oil, gas and coal industries as part of the Obama administration's efforts to tie clean energy to a stronger economy.

The End Polluter Welfare Act of 2013, introduced in the Senate by Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and in the House by Keith Ellison, D-Minn., would end taxpayer-funded fossil fuel research and prevent companies from escaping liability for spills and deducting cleanup costs, the lawmakers said in a statement.
