Deals Rumor Mill: San Miguel, Royal Dutch Shell, Citigroup

By Benjamin Horney (September 12, 2014, 5:51 PM EDT) -- Philippines conglomerate San Miguel Corp. is looking into placing a bid for U.K.-based snacks maker United Biscuits Ltd., Reuters reported on Friday. According to the report, Ramon Ang, president of San Miguel, told Reuters via text message that if the company does indeed place a bid, it will not be a joint bid with any other company. "No need for partner," the text message said, according to Reuters. Friday's report comes about a week after the Wall Street Journal reported that United Biscuits — which could sell for up to $3.25 billion — was already in discussions with a number of other potential suitors, including Kellogg Co., Ferrero SpA, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan and Ulker Biskuvi Sanayi AS....
