The Denton Drilling Awareness Group ("DAG") organized the FracFree Denton campaign that lead to the ordinance's success. Although hydraulic fracturing bans are becoming more prevalent in the U.S., with states such as New York, Ohio, California, Colorado and now Maryland, which just recently enacted a statewide fracking ban on May 29, at either the state or local government level, the Denton ordinance was the first of its kind to arise in the heart of America's oil boom. However, that victory was short-lived....
