Law360, New York (October 28, 2015, 10:33 AM EDT) -- In the coming weeks, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court will decide whether parties to an oil and gas lease will be bound by the doctrine of estoppel by deed. The doctrine, which has been traditionally applied in the general real estate context, bars grantors from disputing the terms of a conveyance as to land which they did not acquire title to until after the conveyance was entered into. Therefore, if the Supreme Court applies the doctrine in the oil and gas context, the decision will increase the pressure on lessors and could result in a potential windfall of covered acreage for lessees....
