Obama Urged To Toss Mining Waste Rule Change

Law360, New York (December 04, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A day after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency opened the door for coal companies to dump mining waste directly into streams, environmentalists are putting pressure on President-elect Barack Obama to overturn the controversial measure immediately upon entering the White House.

On Wednesday, North Carolina-based group Appalachian Voices lashed out at the EPA's decision to endorse the mining waste rule change, urging Obama to overturn the 11th hour Bush administration proposal during his first 100 days in office.
