Law360, New York (March 31, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- A federal judge has ruled that the U.S. government must reimburse Shell Oil Co., Texaco Inc., Union Oil Co. of California and Atlantic Richfield Co. $84.5 million for the costs of cleaning up World War II aviation gas waste by-products.
Judge Loren A. Smith of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims on Tuesday found that the oil companies were entitled to about $64 million in cleanup costs, as well as more than $18 million in interest and over $1.6 million in maintenance and operating costs....
