Law360, New York (June 29, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- The Obama administration has proposed a new air quality standard to limit emissions of nitrogen dioxide, a common atmospheric pollutant formed by emissions from vehicles, power plants and industrial facilities.
A proposed U.S. Environmental Protection Agency rule would lower the limits on acceptable levels of nitrogen dioxide for the first time in more than 35 years, the agency said in a statement issued Monday.
The new rule takes into account new research on the health effects of exposure to the gas.
