Law360, New York (August 06, 2009, 9:14 PM ET) -- Union Pacific Railroad Co. has agreed to shell out $31 million to restore Nevada streams and wetlands to resolve the U.S. government’s suit alleging the company altered waterways during 2005 construction projects without first obtaining the required permits.
The U.S. Department of Justice and the Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday said the railroad company will also pay a civil fine of $800,000 as part of the consent decree settling the suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada.
