Law360, New York (September 03, 2009, 4:04 PM ET) -- As part of a concerted effort to combat the widespread practice of illegal logging in the South Pacific region, representatives from the U.S., Indonesia, Malaysia and a handful of other countries have commenced the first regional dialogue on ways to promote the legal trade of forest products.
The meeting, which started Thursday, is the result of the U.S. and Indonesia's bilateral working group on illegal logging and related trade, which was established under a 2006 memorandum of understanding between the two countries.
