Pa. Residents Hit Cabot With Well Pollution Suit

Law360, New York (November 20, 2009, 4:12 PM ET) -- Fifteen rural Pennsylvania families have lodged a suit against Cabot Oil & Gas Corp., claiming the natural gas producer polluted their groundwater wells.

The residents of Dimock Township, in Susquehanna County, Pa., filed suit Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, against the Houston, Texas-based energy company.

The plaintiffs claim that Cabot polluted the wells through its use of a drilling process known as hydraulic fracturing, which is used to release gas trapped in shale underground.
