Exelon To Pay $1M To End Nuclear Plant Leak Suits

Law360, New York (March 12, 2010, 5:45 PM ET) -- Exelon Generation Corp. will pay three Illinois counties a total of $1.1 million to resolve allegations that the energy company's nuclear power plants leaked radioactive material into nearby groundwater.

In settlements announced Thursday by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Exelon will pay $628,000 in civil penalties and $548,000 to Illinois environmental protection initiatives, as well as take measures to prevent future leaks, resolving complaints in the Grundy County, Ogle County and Will County circuit courts.
