NuStar To Pay $1.2M To Settle Monitoring Suit

Law360, New York (March 18, 2010, 6:41 PM ET) -- NuStar Energy LP’s pipeline unit has agreed to cough up more than $1.2 million to settle a lawsuit alleging the company failed to properly guard against oil spills at eight large-scale storage facilities in violation of the Clean Water Act.

San Antonio-based NuStar Pipeline Operating Partnership LP entered a consent decree with federal regulators Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska, denying liability for the alleged infractions but agreeing to pay $450,000 in civil penalties and to spend roughly $768,000 on monitoring...
