DOJ Attys, Secretaries Head To Gulf As Spill Hits Shore

Law360, New York (April 30, 2010, 5:14 PM ET) -- President Barack Obama has halted new offshore drilling and dispatched cabinet members and U.S. Department of Justice attorneys to the Gulf of Mexico, laying the groundwork for possible litigation against BP PLC and others for the environmental devastation wrought by the Deepwater Horizon rig sinking.

New offshore drilling will not be allowed until investigators learn what caused the $560 million rig to explode and sink, Obama adviser David Axelrod told ABC's “Good Morning America” on Friday.
