DOI's Deepwater Drilling Ban Deep-Sixed

Law360, New York (June 22, 2010, 5:09 PM ET) -- Oil interests received a major boon Tuesday when a federal judge invalidated the federal moratorium on deepwater drilling and slammed the government for not having evidence to back up the prohibition.

Describing the moratorium as “heavy-handed” and “rather overbearing,” Judge Martin Feldman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana determined that the plaintiffs — a group of oil exploration support services firms — had a good chance to win their claim.
