McWane To Settle Federal, State Enviro Claims For $4M

Law360, New York (July 14, 2010, 6:42 PM ET) -- Cast iron pipe manufacturer McWane Inc. agreed Wednesday to pay $4 million to settle more than 400 claims of state and federal environmental violations across 14 states.

The proposed consent decree — filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama — also calls for the company to implement a new corporate environmental management system and to commit to seven environmental projects worth about $9.1 million, the U.S. Department of Justice said.
