House Narrowly Passes Oil Spill Bill

Law360, New York (July 30, 2010, 7:23 PM ET) -- The U.S. House of Representatives narrowly passed a bill Friday that was rolled out in the wake of the BP PLC oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to strengthen the safety rules for offshore drilling and lift the $75 million cap on oil company liability for spills.

The house passed the bill, H.R. 3534, the Consolidated Land, Energy and Aquatic Resources Act of 2010, in a 209-193 vote.
