Republicans Ask High Court To Back Off Climate Change

Law360, New York (February 08, 2011, 1:14 PM ET) -- Handling climate change should be left up to Congress and the president, not the courts, top Republican lawmakers have told the U.S. Supreme Court as it prepares to hear a case over power companies' role in global warming.

Federal courts are not equipped or empowered to deal with the complicated question of setting greenhouse gas emissions standards, according to an amicus brief written by three leading Republicans filed Monday in the contentious American Electric Power Co. v. State of Connecticut case.
