Law360, New York (September 09, 2011, 7:07 PM ET) -- A unit of chemical company Ashland Inc. said Thursday in Missouri federal court that it would settle a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency suit for operating a manufacturing facility that has been releasing hazardous pollutants into the air since 1997.
Hercules Inc., a unit of Kentucky-based Ashland, agreed in a stipulated agreement to pay $245,521 to settle the EPA action, which also was filed Thursday. The agency's complaint alleges Clean Air Act violations in operating a Louisiana, Mo., facility that makes formaldehyde, among other chemicals.
