Law360, New York (December 14, 2011, 5:20 PM ET) -- The country’s leading bird conservation group urged the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Wednesday to create new regulations to prevent wind energy projects from causing unnecessary deaths to migratory birds.
In a 109-page petition, the American Bird Conservancy asked FWS to develop a permitting scheme under which wind energy operators would have to certify that their projects are designed to minimize effects on migratory birds, especially those that are threatened or endangered.
