Coal Co. Settles W.Va. Mine Waste Suit For $7.5M

Law360, New York (January 19, 2012, 4:53 PM ET) -- Patriot Coal Corp. announced Wednesday that it will pay $7.5 million and treat pollution at several West Virginia mountaintop removal coal mines to settle environmental groups' claims that the mines illegally dump selenium, a chemical that is toxic to humans in large concentrations.
