Interior IG Evading Drilling-Report Probe, Lawmaker Says

Law360, New York (May 10, 2012, 8:57 PM ET) -- A top House Republican accused the Interior Department’s inspector general Thursday of using unjustified confidentiality claims to avoid complying with a subpoena for information on the Obama administration’s offshore drilling moratorium.

Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash., chair of the House Natural Resources Committee, sent a letter to Inspector General Mary Kendall, alleging the agency didn’t conduct a thorough enough investigation of GOP claims that the Interior Department misrepresented a prominent engineering group’s position on the ban.
