Gas Co. Equitable Balks At Driller's Indemnity Claim

Law360, New York (May 18, 2012, 12:35 PM ET) -- Natural gas well owner Equitable Production Co. told an Ohio federal judge on Thursday that it had no duty to indemnify its drilling contractor in settled litigation over fracking fluids that allegedly contaminated a West Virginia family’s water supply.

Equitable, also called EQT, moved to dismiss Warren Drilling Co. Inc.’s suit seeking more than $190,000 in litigation expenses, including a $40,000 settlement with the family in the underlying action.
