Law360, New York (May 22, 2012, 5:33 PM ET) -- Citing strong demand and acceptable environmental impacts, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Monday gave its blessing to Spectra Energy Corp.'s $1.2 billion natural gas pipeline connected to the heart of New York City, drawing swift threats of litigation from project opponents.
Spectra plans to run the 20-mile tube from Linden, N.J., through Staten Island, beneath Jersey City and finally under the Hudson River before wrapping up work near Manhattan’s West Village. About three-quarters of that is new pipeline, and the remainder is replacement.
