LA City Council Endorses Plan To Phase Out Plastic Bags

Law360, New York (May 24, 2012, 1:23 PM ET) -- The Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday officially endorsed a plan that envisions a complete ban on single-use plastic shopping bags at Los Angeles grocery stores, convenience stores and pharmacies by the end of 2013.

In a 13-1 vote, the council approved a process that moves toward the ban, starting with a four-month environmental review examining the ban's impact.
