NRC Nominees Macfarlane, Svinicki Win Senate Approval

Law360, New York (June 29, 2012, 7:49 PM ET) -- The Senate on Friday confirmed President Barack Obama's nominee to replace the outgoing chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and confirmed a sitting commissioner to a second five-year term.

In a vote late in the day, the Senate confirmed Allison Macfarlane, a George Mason professor and nuclear waste expert, to lead the NRC and reconfirmed Commissioner Kristine Svinicki, whose term was set to expire Saturday.
