Lawmakers Eye Renewable Energy Leases On Public Land

Law360, Washington (February 11, 2013, 5:53 PM ET) -- A bipartisan group of U.S. House of Representative lawmakers introduced a bill Friday that could streamline the permitting process for renewable energy projects on federal land, claiming bureaucracy has stymied growth in the industry.

Reps. Paul A. Gosar, R-Ariz.; Joe Heck, R-Nev.; Jared Polis, D-Colo.; and Mike Thompson, D-Calif.; introduced the Public Lands Renewable Energy Development Act, which would create a five-year pilot program for the U.S. Department of the Interior and Department of Agriculture to establish wind and solar energy leases on select public lands....
