Halliburton, BP Used Bad Cement In Macondo Well: Expert

Law360, New York (March 07, 2013, 7:01 PM ET) -- BP PLC and Halliburton Co. share responsibility for the failed cement job on the Macondo well, even though Halliburton didn't inform BP that the cement slurry it provided was unstable, an expert testified Thursday in a trial over the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Tests Halliburton conducted before the April 20, 2010, disaster indicated the cement slurry was faulty, but the company never informed BP, which proceeded to pump the mixture into the well, according to Glen Benge, an independent cementing consultant.
