Calif. Panel OKs Bill To Step Up Fracking Oversight

Law360, San Diego (May 03, 2013, 10:51 PM ET) -- A California Senate panel passed a measure Wednesday that seeks to allow the state’s Department of Toxic Substances Control to regulate water produced from hydraulic fracturing as hazardous waste.

In a 6–3 vote, the state Senate Environmental Quality Committee approved S.B. 395, which would require any wastewater brought up during the oil and gas extraction process to be regulated as hazardous waste by the agency.
