Law360, New York (January 14, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Amid a series of public hearings on the marketing of carbon offsets and renewable energy certificates, two lawmakers are claiming even more scrutiny is necessary, asking the Government Accountability Office on Monday to conduct an inquiry into such practices.
In a letter to the GAO on Monday, Reps. Joe Barton (R-Texas), ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and John Shimkus (R-Ill.), ranking member of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, expressed their concerns over the carbon offset market.
