Calif. Court Voids County Limit On Solid Waste Imports

Law360, New York (August 2, 2013, 6:30 PM ET) -- A California state appeals court on Wednesday effectively struck down a 1984 initiative restricting the amount of solid waste that can be imported to Solano County, saying a newly enacted state law prohibits such a measure.

Environmental groups including the Sierra Club sued the county after it stopped enforcing the law, known as Measure E, and allowed a landfill operator, Potrero Hills Landfill Inc., to expand its landfill.
