Jerry Brown took the next step in implementing the state's ambitious greenhouse gas emission reduction goals, with the issuance of Executive Order B-30-15. The executive order calls for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in California to 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030. This sets an interim goal "to ensure California meets its target of reducing" emissions to 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050. The 80 percent reduction target was instituted by former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005, with Executive Order S-03-05.
