Law360, New York (December 06, 2010, 7:34 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Justice said Monday that a national operation targeting an array of investment fraud schemes involved 231 criminal cases that have led to prison sentences for 87 defendants.
The three-and-a-half month effort — dubbed "Operation Broken Trust" — was coordinated and led by members of the Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force put together by President Barack Obama, said Attorney General Eric Holder.
Holder said the operation sent a "strong message" to fraudsters that scamming investors was "no longer a safe business plan." ...
