Law360, New York (March 09, 2011, 11:19 PM ET) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office says the health care overhaul law could help the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services — which doled out nearly $48 billion in improper payments in fiscal year 2010 — to tighten up its act.
The federal agency is working now to implement provisions in the the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act aimed at minimizing improper payments, which include payments that should not have been made as well as under- and over-payments, according to a GAO report released Wednesday....
