Senate Wants Quarterly Medicare Fraud Reports

Law360, New York (March 24, 2011, 6:00 PM ET) -- Senate Finance Committee leaders on Thursday requested quarterly updates from federal officials fighting Medicare and Medicaid fraud, in order to more effectively allocate resources for enforcement efforts.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., and ranking member Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, sent a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General Daniel Levinson and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Deputy Administrator Peter Budetti, requesting data, benchmarks and updates from both agencies on the number of fraud cases caught and the amount of money...
