Law360, New York (May 12, 2011, 1:20 PM ET) -- On Feb. 28, the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in a case that may radically reshape the rules for determining patent ownership in government-funded inventions. The case, Stanford v. Roche, cert. granted, 131 S. Ct. 502 (2010), is the first time that the court is considering the scope of the Bayh-Dole Act — a 30-year-old law that regulates the disposition of rights in inventions funded by grants from the federal government.
