Law360, New York (May 10, 2012, 2:16 PM ET) -- House Republicans on Thursday urged the Obama administration to act quickly to fill inspector general vacancies in 10 federal agencies, claiming that the failure to appoint permanent IGs has exposed taxpayer dollars to fraud and abuse.
During an Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing, Chairman Darrell E. Issa, R-Calif., and other GOP members expressed particular concern with open IG positions at the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development, citing the agencies' growing responsibilities in Iraq and Afghanistan.
