$200M Medicare Schemer Objects To Feds' Sentencing Plan

Law360, New York (May 21, 2012, 1:44 PM ET) -- A key player in a $200 million Medicare fraud ring in Florida objected Friday to sentencing recommendations he says could land him behind bars for twice as long as he expected when inking a plea deal with prosecutors.

Nelson Fernandez pled guilty last year to conspiracy charges related to his activities as a home health care provider who billed Medicare for ineligible services and a patient broker who pocketed kickbacks in exchange for illegitimate referrals.
