Houston Medicare Fraud Ring Bilked $97M, Feds Say

Law360, New York (July 26, 2012, 10:38 PM ET) -- Federal authorities have indicted the co-owners of a Houston mental-health facility who, along with six others, allegedly defrauded Medicare of some $97 million as part of a scheme that billed the program for unnecessary or unperformed services, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Thursday.

As co-owners and operators of Spectrum Care PA, Mansour Sanjar and Cyrus Sajadi allegedly orchestrated and executed the lucrative fraud over a five-year period that only ended with their arrest in December, the Justice Department said.
