US Opens Up Military Land For Green Energy Projects

Law360, New York (August 06, 2012, 2:02 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior and U.S. Department of Defense have agreed to make 16 million acres of public land that has been set aside for military purposes available for renewable energy development, the agencies announced Monday.

Under the agreement, the agencies will work together to identify areas that could be used for utility-scale solar, wind or geothermal development.
