Withdrawal Of $26M Quest FCA Suit Blocked By Judge

Law360, New York (September 27, 2012, 9:22 PM ET) -- A Maryland federal judge refused Thursday to approve the withdrawal of a $26 million Medicare fraud suit against Quest Diagnostics Inc., saying the governments of Virginia and Washington, D.C., need to sign off on any dismissal because the whistleblower litigation also made claims on their behalf.

Former Quest manager Elizabeth Huff-Meeks launched the suit in 2010, claiming the company racked up $26 million in its accounts receivable balance by submitting false claims to government insurance programs including Medicare and Medicaid. The complaint was unsealed in May...
