Law360, New York (October 10, 2012, 4:04 PM ET) -- A proposed $45 billion merger between BAE Systems PLC and EADS NV that would have created the world's largest aerospace and defense company collapsed Wednesday after the U.K., French and German governments were unable to agree on deal terms.
In a joint statement released Wednesday afternoon, U.K.-based BAE Systems and Franco-German firm EADS — the parent company of Airbus — said they were abandoning deal talks because their respective government stakeholders could not reach a consensus for the blockbuster merger.
