How The FEC Responded To Citizens United, McCutcheon

Federal Election Commission allowing corporations to make independent expenditures in federal elections, the FEC on Oct. 21, 2014, published regulations in the Federal Register designed to conform its rules to the court's decision. In addition, the FEC recently issued an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking to address another Supreme Court opinion dealing with campaign finance (McCutcheon v. FEC), opening a period of public comment, to be followed by a hearing on Feb. 11, on whether the FEC should tighten its policies and rules regarding disclosure, earmarking campaign contributions, and other matters....
