Law360, New York (June 19, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- A judge in charge of multidistrict litigation over AstraZeneca's antipsychotic drug Seroquel has denied a request by the drugmaker to exclude the general causation testimony of an expert witness for plaintiffs.
Judge Anne C. Conway of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida ruled Thursday that the expert — epidemiologist Dr. Donna Arnett — could testify at the trial of federal court cases that Seroquel leads to “clinically significant and relevant metabolic risk,” including weight gain, insulin resistance and diabetes.
