Senate Committee Passes Health Care Reform Bill

Law360, New York (July 16, 2009, 2:09 PM ET) -- A massive health care reform bill that would pave the way for a public health insurance program and expand coverage options for individuals is set to move to the U.S. Senate floor following a vote by the Senate's health committee.

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Wednesday passed The Affordable Health Choices Act in a 13-10 vote, split along party lines. A version of the bill was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday.
