Law360, New York (July 17, 2009, 3:55 PM ET) -- Two U.S. House of Representatives committees passed an overhaul of the U.S. health care system Friday that would establish a government-run health insurance option and cover 97 percent of Americans by 2015, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
The Committee on Education and Labor approved the more than 1,000-page America's Affordable Health Choices Act, H.R. 3200, by a margin of 26-22. The committee approved the bill after adopting 20 amendments, including five from Republicans.
