Lilly To Pay Miss. $18.5M Over Zyprexa Marketing

Law360, New York (February 04, 2010, 5:26 PM ET) -- Eli Lilly and Co. Inc. has agreed to pay Mississippi $18.5 million to settle the state's allegations that the drugmaker marketed its antipsychotic Zyprexa for off-label uses and failed to reveal risks that the drug could cause diabetes.

Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood on Thursday announced the settlement, which has been filed with the Circuit Court of Lafayette County. Under the agreement, the drugmaker has neither admitted nor denied wrongdoing, according to a consent judgment and assurance of voluntary compliance filed with the court.
