Law360, New York (March 10, 2010, 6:14 PM ET) -- A federal judge has dismissed a qui tam case alleging Maimonides Medical Center in New York City should face $2 billion in fines for improperly receiving millions of dollars in excess Medicare payments.
Judge Loretta B. Preska of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York threw out the case Monday, agreeing with Maimonides that the plaintiff who brought the suit on behalf of the government improperly delayed serving the hospital with the complaint until nearly a year after the case was unsealed....
