Law360, New York (April 08, 2010, 6:16 PM ET) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday told manufacturers of radiation-emitting medical equipment the agency would be taking steps to improve the safety of certain radiation therapy devices in response to recent reports indicating possible problems.
Jeffrey Shuren, director of the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health, said in a letter to manufacturers that analyses of medical device reports revealed certain problems that could be mitigated by the incorporation of additional safeguards.
