Law360, New York (January 12, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- A U.S. House of Representatives bill requiring the government to negotiate directly with drug companies to obtain lower drug prices is likely to encounter a presidential veto, leading some legislators to favor another plan.
Sens. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Roy Wyden (D-Ore.) have proposed a bill that would lift the ban for negotiating the prices of prescription drugs, but only in certain circumstances, such as when the drug was created with substantial taxpayer funding and when the drug is available only under one brand name....
